Objectives of this post
This is a substantive post for less than full time 7 PAs General Paediatrics consultant with special interest in Paediatrics Emergency Medicine. The candidate will be required to provide a comprehensive service covering paediatric Accident and emergency and will be expected to collaborate with the lead clinician in the management and development of the Acute paediatrics service. Previous experience in hospital management would be a benefit. The post only provides general paediatric cover. There is an entirely separate neonatal service on site at all levels.

This post will be based at Northwick[sb1][KB2] and Ealing Hospitals. However, it is a requirement of your employment that you be prepared to work at any additional or different location owned or served by either Trust, either on an ongoing or temporary basis according to the demands of the service.

Main duties of the job
- Deliver paediatricEmergency services including:
- Working in paediatric accident and emergency, support HDU ward rounds on the ward, oversee sick children on PAU in the morning to assist with ward attending consultant
- CCL2 service HDU MDT WR
- Acute High dependency clinical service on Rota basis 08:00-18:00
-Administrative duties, for which appropriate office space and secretarial support is provided
- Paediatrics emergency department on site rota cover: 10.00-18.00 and 18:00-22:00 Shifts to be discussed during Job Planning.
- On-call duties for Paediatrics shared with colleagues, Shifts to be discussed during Job Planning.
- On-call duties. Shifts to be discussed during Job Planning. Weekend on calls include on-site Paediatrics emergency department 14.00-22.00.
- Paediatric A&E review clinics.
- To lead and jointly work with adult A&E colleagues.
- Working and co-ordinating care for patients in the community and to ensure that services are based on effective and integrated partnerships across the health community.
- Supervise and train junior medical staff
- To be involved in appraising and assessing juniors and teaching.
- To proactively develop the service.
- To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning, complaint responses, Clinical Governance and audit.
- Participation in the NWL (regional) Emergency services MDT
