Job summary
The London Bowel Cancer Screening Programme Hub (BCSP) is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Healthcare Scientist to lead the department's laboratory, manage training and deputise for the Hub Manager.
The department is UKAS and SQAS accredited and provides Bowel Cancer Screening for the whole of London using automated Faecal Immunochemical Test (FIT) analysis.
The ideal applicant should beregistered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Biomedical Scientist or Clinical Scientist and have a IBMS specialist portfolio and MSc or equivalent experience.
The successful candidate will have experience of people management, service management and quality management system activities. They will also have extensive experience of working in a Clinical Biochemistry or Blood Sciences laboratory.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be a member of the Senior Management Team and assist in the delivery of a quality driven, cost effective; patient focused service, consistent with the objectives of the National Bowel Screening Programme and London North West University Healthcare Trust and provide that service in a manner commensurate with the profession.
The post holder's main role is to lead the department's Training, Laboratory and to deputise for the Programme Hub Manager of the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme Hub, providing leadership and specialist scientific guidance.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring all members of the department attend the Trust's mandatory training courses and that all required staff receives appropriate induction, training and development for their roles.
The post holder will work closely with the senior management team and other staff members to deliver all aspects of the laboratory functions as a whole.
The post holder will be the Laboratory Lead, with responsibility to work with the Local and National Team to deliver the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme Hub Laboratory standards.
The post holder will be a registered Healthcare Scientist and will therefore be required to maintain the skills and knowledge in line with Health and Care Professions Council and accreditation requirements.
The post holder will have line management responsibility for a team of staff.
