The Community Engagement Officer plays a pivotal role in driving the NHS Trust's commitment to public involvement and community engagement. Reporting to the Health Service Research Manager and PPI Lead, this position is integral to the delivery of the Trust's public involvement and community engagement strategy, actively shaping how the Trust collaborates with its local communities, stakeholders, and patients to enhance NHS research outcomes. The post holder will engage with a broad spectrum of community groups, fostering inclusive partnerships and co-production at all levels of research and innovation (R&I), in line with national priorities and guidelines set by figures such as Lord O'Shaughnessy. This role requires both strategic thinking and operational delivery to promote research engagement, ensure that diverse communities are heard, and ensure the research is responsive to local needs.
Main duties of the job
Support the implementation of the public involvement and community engagement strategy and act as a point of contact for patients and wider public for R&I
The post holder will organise and coordinate a wide range of events including focus groups with patients, community engagement events, virtual events and larger public engagement events in both internal and external venues.
Develop and grow our engagement opportunities through social media.
Provide administrative support to community engagement meetings including co-ordination of the meetings, minute taking and following up actions.
Contribute to internal and external Trust publications as required to promote community engagement and co-production approaches.
Work with the R&I support facilitators to monitor and ensure the R&I Trust's intranet and internet sites are up to date. Ensure the pages provide relevant and up to date information for staff, patients and the public on community engagement opportunities.
