Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will participate in an 11 person SpR rota providing 7-day cover to the acute medicine service (The Acute Medical Unit (Crick and Darwin wards), Same Day Emergency Care unit and High Dependency Unit). The postholder may also participate in the medical take rota, with responsibility for either acute admissions or HDU/ward cover both in and out-of-hours. There will also be opportunities to participate in audit, clinical governance activities and teaching amongst others.

We have eight Consultant Physicians who specialise in Acute Medicine to facilitate the running of the AMU. In addition, twenty specialty medicine consultants have additional clinical commitments within acute medicine. The appointees will work as a member of the Acute Medical team with F1s, SHOs, SPRs and the consultant staff to ensure high quality care of acute medical patients. The acute medicine team is also responsible for care of patients on the medical High Dependency Unit (mHDU and within the Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) unit .
