Job summary
To provide comprehensive administration services to support all functions of the Physiology Department in delivering an effective and timely referral management, appointment booking and reception service for the service. To support patients, and patient carers, through the patient pathway and ensure that key performance metrics are met.
The post holder will be required to undertake a range of tasks, including effective new and follow-up appointment booking, accurate data input on the relevant clinical system, processing of referrals etc. Additionally the post holder will provide support to all patients and visitors to the Department, cash-up clinics and update RTT pathways as required. The post holder is required to ensure that all duties are carried out to a high professional standard whilst delivering a friendly, patient-centred service.
The post holder will need to communicate information effectively with members of the public, clinical and non-clinical staff using all forms of communication adapting to the audience when necessary i.e. cultural or language barriers and anxious patients. This will include face to face, telephone queries and e-mail correspondence.
Main duties of the job
- To adhere to Trust policies and procedures at all times.
- To ensure a high level of data quality and patient confidentiality on a daily basis.
- To bring to the attention of the Admin Manager where clinical capacity is not fully utilised, where there are capacity issues or where waiting time issues are identified.
- To report any identified data quality issues including any double registrations on the system.
- Provide training and mentoring to other team colleagues as required.
- Contribute to the effective performance of the team, providing support to colleagues and the Admin Manager during periods of absence to ensure that the service is covered during operational hours.
