Job summary
The post holder will be working one day a week in the pre and post op cataract clinic at our diagnostic HUB; Willesden centre for health and care. They will have remote support from the consultant.
Main duties of the job
To assess both pre and post op cataract patients as decided by the consultant.
- To undertake a detailed ophthalmic assessment of the patient.o To list patients for cataract surgery and undertake all administrative duties associated with it e.g. filling out the consent formo To request and interpret the results of tests e.g., OCT scan, biometry to reach a diagnosis. To understand how a patient's general health can have clinical implications / affect their managemento For post op patients, to determine a clinical management plan as appropriate following the standard operating protocol and/or discussion with the consultant if indicated. To arrange appropriate follow-up, treatment or discharge following protocols from the consultanto To discuss the treatment plan with the patient / carer making sure that the implication of treatment is understood.o To describe and record clinical data in the electronic medical records.o To provide a report for the patient's GP and any other relevant parties to whom a patient agrees for information to be sento To help with triaging clinics to ensure clinics are run efficiently
