Job summary

Are you an Health Care Assistant looking for a new challenge?

We are looking for a friendly, motivated, hardworking and forward thinking individual to join our dedicated team in providing high quality care to our Elective Surgical patients at ACAD Day Surgery of Central Middlesex Hospital. Those looking for or with experience of support worker or similar roles, and who have an interest in day-care surgery will be well-suited to the role and stand to gain a range of highly valued skills and knowledge in a clinical setting.

Main duties of the job

This is a full time vacancy (37.5 hours/week)

  • Support patients and relatives in distress and recognise when advice should be sought from a health care professional.
  • Contribute to promotion of good health and participate in health education programmes planned in the department
  • Maintain the patient's right to privacy and dignity at all times and communicates with MDT effectively
  • Maintain standards of practice, conduct decision making in conjunction with the nursing team / Senior Nurses, being clear about reporting mechanisms.
  • Promote evidence-based decision-making.
  • Recognize areas of conflict and assist in the management of this to promote a healthy working environment.
  • Provide support and advice to clients and relatives when faced with distressing situations.
  • Support peoples equality, diversity and rights.
  • The post holder is expected to support junior members of staff, relatives and careers in a courteous and sympathetic manner.
  • Carry-on clinical tasks such as taking the patient's observations, monitoring blood sugar, preparing clinical materials for the patient's use, cleaning and tidying up patient's bed and bedside, and prepare and bring patients to theatre.
