Job summary
An interesting opportunity has arisen for the right candidate to become the Trust Lead Nuclear Medicine Physicist in our Medical Physics Department based at Northwick Park Hospital, in Harrow, Middlesex. The work will involve leading on providing scientific support to both Imaging Nuclear Medicine (including QA of 2 Gamma Cameras, plus a SPECT/CT Scanner) and Non-Imaging in vitro Nuclear Medicine procedures, as well as being the Joint Production-Manager of the Trust Radiopharmacy. There will also be the possibility of engaging in Radiation Protection work in general, alongside that for Nuclear Medicine.
The candidate we urgently require will already be a member of the UK IPEM (Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine) and have a Clinical Scientist (in Medical Physics) Registration with the UK HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council). As well as being able to work independently as an MPE, the candidate should also possess good communication and client-relations skills together with a caring approach towards patients and work-colleagues.
As the London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust comprises four hospitals on 3 different sites, some cross-site working will be required in this post.
Whilst having all the usual amenities, Harrow is attractively situated in a semi-Green Belt with easy/fast access both to the Outer London countryside and to Central London itself - by rail and road.
Main duties of the job
- Scientifically lead and develop both the Trust clinical Nuclear Medicine Service and the underpinning Nuclear Medicine Physics support (including Policies and Procedures).
- Manage the provision and development of the complex Nuclear Medicine Physics services and related Radiation Protection aspects (re: patients, staff and visitors involved) for all the various relevant Trust departments and external clients.
- Be a Trustwide Medical Physics Expert (MPE), drawing on your advanced specialist knowledge and experience, to ensure safe, optimised and efficient Nuclear Medicine work and other radionuclide-based undertakings.
- Be a Joint-Production Manager for the Trust Radiopharmacy and help with the associated Quality Management System under MHRA good-manufacturing-practice Standards.
- Manage a delegated budget and other financial aspects (eg. Business Cases) for your specialist field.
