Job summary
We are looking for a talented, passionate and experienced nurse leader who can demonstrate strong clinical and strategic leadership, with the ability to communicate effectively across multi-professional boundaries as well as create an enviable culture of caring and compassion. The post holder will be based at Ealing Hospital but will be required to work across all Trust sites if support required.
The Head of Nursing needs to be able to articulate a clear vision/plan for nursing which will enable the Division of Medicine and Therapies to meet its objectives.
The post holder needs to have a comprehensive understanding of the changing NHS environment and the challenges it faces, and the role and contribution nurses can make.
Having the ability to be intellectually flexible and to look beyond existing structures, ways of working, boundaries, and organisations to produce more effective and innovative service delivery and partnerships is a key skill, essential to the role.
The post holder needs to have a commitment to improving patient services, by providing an environment that sustains performance and focuses on achieving demanding goals.
Providing leadership and experience to manage and deliver on the complex and changing workload, which will include the need to identify and resolve conflicting priorities within tight timescales will be expected.
Main duties of the job
The Head of Nursing is a key member of the Divisional Management team, responsible for assisting the Divisional Director of Nursing with the development and delivery of clinical professional standards and the development of nursing leadership within the Directorate. The post holder will work in line with agreed objectives reflecting the targets, quality standards, resource controls, constraints, risks and patient safety. The post holder will deliver the clinical strategy for patient services within the Directorate. The post holder is responsible for supporting research and practice development in conjunction with the Education team. The post-holder will be required to participate in the Trust wide on-call rota.
