Job summary
We are looking for a proactive and dynamic band 6 Nurse, committed to personal professional development to join our team in Ward 4 South - Cardiology Unit. The successful candidate will need to be committed to providing a high standard of patient care, supporting and developing junior nurses and will work alongside other members of the team to achieve a high standard in the Key Performance Indicators. The post holder will be expected to complete, maintain and work within the Trust band 6 competency and skills framework and act as deputy for the ward manager as required.
Main duties of the job
Ward 4 South is a busy 32 bedded Cardiology Ward that incorporates 14 monitored Coronary Care beds. It works closely with the Cardiac Catheter Laboratory at Ealing and Northwick Park Hospital sites and Cardiac Day Care Unit.
Patients on the ward undergo procedures such as Angiogram, Angioplasty, Rotablation, Pacemaker insertion and Internal Loop Recorder insertion. In the coronary care unit patients may receive inotropic drug support and non-invasive ventilation with arterial line monitoring.
As the band 6 RN on Ward 4 South you will support the clinical nurse manager in delivering high quality care to the patients and be actively involved in audit and improving care.
You will need clear confident communication skills, experience in cardiology nursing, teaching / mentoring experience and be able to support and lead a team of nurses for a shift.
You will ensure high quality, safe patient care, efficient and safe flow of patients though the ward through close liaison with discharge teams and clinical site practitioners.
Undertake weekly and monthly audits and quality improvement initiatives on the ward under guidance of the Ward Manager.
Lead and support a small team of junior nurses , healthcare support workers and learners on the ward to ensure they are confident, settled and supported to deliver high quality patient care.
The post involves internal rotation to night duty.
All internal candidates should have completed the ALERT course.
