Job summary
A vacancy has arisen, providing the opportunity for a Radiographer to join our dedicated CT Colonography team (CTC) for a 12 month fixed term maternity cover contract. We are looking for an enthusiastic Radiographer with post graduate education and clinical experience in CTC (Must have performed >100 CTCs), who is an organised and focused individual, possessing excellent communication skills and can lead the team in the absence of the Clinical Lead CTC Radiographer.
The post holder will have well developed CTC skills and along with the Consultant CTC Radiographer and Clinical Lead Radiographer will train, encourage and support other Radiographers within the service.
There is no on-call commitment, however there is a requirement to work occasional evenings and weekends.
You will take an active role in our education programme, offer training and mentorship to other members of the team across the Trust and participate in our on-going audit and research programme.
Main duties of the job
- To work as part of a cross Trust multi- disciplinary team consisting of radiologists, radiographers, nurses, medical secretaries and administrative staff offering a high quality diagnostic and screening CTC service to patients.
- To work with and deputise for the Clinical Lead Radiographer to support the operational delivery of the daily CTC service.
- To undertake, unaided, all aspects of CTC imaging, to perform initial assessment of the acquired images, identify significant pathology and make appropriate patient management decisions.
- Direct communication with patients, face to face and via telephone to explain procedures, answer queries which can be extremely sensitive.
- To ensure safe operation of CTC equipment and that the correct CTC scanning protocols and SOPS have been followed
- To undertake the vetting of CTC requests.
- To contribute to the provision of CTC training and support CTC service development across the Trust.
- To ensure all images are available on PACS and assigned to the correct work list.
- To undertake daily database maintenance to support research and audit.
- To develop interpretation skills to provide a formal written radiology report of colonic findings
