Job summary

The Senior Pharmacy Technician - Stores and Distribution is operationally responsible for the timely and accurate receipt, storage and issue of all items purchased by Ealing Hospital pharmacy and will provide support to the Pharmacy Procurement Manager. The role will provide an important link between the purchasing activities and stores and distribution activities to ensure compliance with Good Distribution Practice (GDP) and Medicines Healthcare and Regulatory agency MHRA requirements. Responsibilities include hands-on forward distribution of stock to wards and departments, other pharmacy locations and to external customers. Responsibilities include, implementation/maintenance of procedures/standards, monitoring of performance and training of staff in areas relating to top up services and staff management of the pharmacy store ensuring that the store operates to a high-quality standard and that Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are followed by staff working in those areas.

Main duties of the job

Manages the day-to-day activities of the pharmacy stores including prompt and accurate receipt and issue of stock.o Manages the distribution services to ensure the safe, accurate, timely delivery of medication and supplies to wards and clinics.o Day to day responsibility for the management and deployment of staff within the Stores and Distribution team by managing staff rotas including ward top up rotas.o Is responsible for the receipt of drugs into the department, entry into the pharmacy stock control system and working with the procurement team to arrange any returns and credits resulting from the process.o Co-ordinates the process of stock checks throughout the supply process and will ensure that stock levels are correct by providing regular and random stock checks.o To co-ordinate the process of cycle counts and expiry checks on the wards including those operating Omnicell to ensure stock levels are correcto Provides of a supply service to other Trusts according to Service Level agreements.o Packs and distributes items ordered by other external customers according to procedures.o Cold Chain and other regulations in line with Good Distribution practice (GDP).o Ensuring that problems and defects are identified and notified to the appropriate staff such as QA Pharmacy technician and pharmacy procurement staff including support to manage drug recall notifications in accordance with pharmacy SOPs.
