Job summary
The post holder will take overall managerial and operational responsibility for all aspects of the day-to-day running of the Medical Education Centre, including Postgraduate Medical, Dental, Undergraduate Medical Education Simulation and Library Teams, liaising closely with the Director of Medical Education (DME) & Directors of Clinical Studies (DCS), and Deputy Director of Learning & Organisational Development to provide the best possible support to all medical staff and students in the best possible educational facilities. The post-holder will work with educational leads, including Training Programme Directors (TPDs), to ensure that the education contract for Undergraduate and Postgraduate Medical Education is fulfilled and that educational targets are met.
The post holder is accountable for operational management of the medical education department, which includes responsibility for the conduct, performance, financial control and governance of the activity of the department.
The position will require an experienced manager who is outcomes focused with excellent business, management, and organisational skills and a working knowledge of undergraduate and postgraduate medical education.
This role will support the Associate Medical Director (AMD) in the implementation of the Medical education strategy through the development of a project plan, monitoring and reporting on process and progress and the evaluation of its impact.
Main duties of the job
- To support the AMD, DMES and Directors of Clinical Studies to ensure that education programmes and developments are delivered on time and to the desired quality.
- To support accurate and robust reporting both internally and externally.
- To manage the development of plans to address issues identified through a variety of means including GMC training surveys, local engagement work-streams, appraisal quality reviews.
- To manage the education teams and their overall work plan, including management of staff and budgets
- To support the building of constructive relationships with key stakeholders, in particular Imperial College Medical School, Brunel Medical School, NHSE WTE, and the General Medical Council.
