We are delighted to have the opportunity to offer a Locum Consultant Urologist positions for a period of 1 year.
The Urology service is at an exciting crossroads at London Northwest University Healthcare NHS Trust, whereby we are currently redesigning the service we provide to our patients of London North West. We are exploring options to develop a modern Urology Unit.
We are therefore looking for a motivated and skilled individuals to join our busy, friendly, and innovative department. Excellent communication and team working is essential, particularly given that our consultants work across two sites - Northwick Park Hospital and Central Middlesex Hospital.
The successful postholder will be pivotal in making decisions on the future direction of the service, working closely with our colleagues at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust and Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust so a prior background in leading service redesign would be a bonus (but not essential).
Whilst this position is a fixed term in the first instance, we will be looking to make the role substantive at the end of the contract
Main duties of the job
The postholder will be offered a 10 PA locum contract with Urology (theatre sessions on both sites) per week. Postholder will play an integral part in delivering and developing an excellent Urology Surgery service. Postholder will be responsible for the admission and ward care of patients, operate in theatres, run outpatient clinics, MDTs, initiate and complete Audits, and participate in Research Trials (ongoing as well as help initiate new projects).
The role would have on-call commitments which would be 1:12
The postholder need to have a major interest in Urology surgery and will provide support to the Junior Urology team within LNWUH
The Urology department has an expectation that during this placement you will take part in clinical governance, M&M and present the findings to your colleagues and other departments.

- The post holder will be accountable to the Clinical Director and will be expected to participate in the oncall services at Northwick Park Hospital and to assist in the coordination and smooth running of the emergency lists. They will provide elective services on both Northwick Park and Central Middlesex hospitals.
- Participate in the on call for the Trust including week-ends.
- Provide an active participation in the teaching activities of the Trust and the supervision and training of junior medical staff.
- Ensure they are actively participating in the activities of the Urology department.

- Maintain regular liaison with General Practitioners and other professional groups who use the Urology services at all the hospitals.
- Actively participate in clinical and medical audit of the service provided along with the other Consultant Urology Surgeons. The post holder will take part in regular departmental Clinical Governance.
- Provide lead responsibility for the development & co-ordination of the patient pathway & protocols for Urology patients. Ensuring key communication and patient information is updated and shared within the division to improve the patient experience and outcomes.
