Job summary

Charles Kingsley Ward is a busy elective surgical ward looking after a variety of surgical patients. We require a motivated, dedicated, professional Ward Clerk that possesses excellent verbal & written communication and ICT skills to provide administrative support to ensure the effective and efficient running of the Ward.

The ability to work as a dynamic member of the multi - disciplinary team is essential. Educational development is available both in-house and externally.

Main duties of the job

  1. Support the admission and discharge of patients within the Unit.
  2. Performs clerical and some housekeeping duties as delegated by the Ward Manager.
  3. Works co-operatively with others in the ward in ensuring good inter-disciplinary team work to meet the needs of surgical patients.
  4. Be able to communicate with the multi-disciplinary team members, families and the patient in a professional manner.
  5. Assist with the general admirative tasks within the unit such as preparing admission paperwork, filing, archiving of notes and provision of paper documents required by the entire team to facilitate the day to day running of the ward.
  6. Answer the telephone and communicate key messages to the Nurse In Charge.
  7. Recognizes and responds appropriately to urgent and emergency situations, being aware of own competence and asking for assistance as required.
  8. Complete tasks as per job description and as per Matron or Clinical Nurse Manager instruction.
