Information:

This job is now closed

Job summary

Ward 4 South is a 32 bedded inpatient Cardiology Ward that is committed to providing high quality and timely care to all cardiac patients.

The ward is comprised of a 14 bedded coronary care area which has central cardiac monitoring and supports the safe care of patients requiring cardiac procedures such as angiograms and pacemakers, or patients who may have stepped down from ITU. Some patients may require non invasive ventilation, inotropic medications and arterial lines.

Main duties of the job

There are 18 beds general cardiology beds that provide high quality care to patients who require cardiac investigations who either do not require cardiac monitoring or are able to be monitored on telemetry. This includes patients admitted through the Emergency Department, and those who have been transferred back from Tertiary Centres post Cardiac Surgery for further rehabilitation, patients with arrhythmias or general cardiology care.

The CCU side and general medical side of the ward work closely together and nurses will rotate between either side of the ward.

The ward works very closely with the cardiac catheter suite at both Northwick Park and Ealing sites where patients undergo the following procedures: -

  • Angiograms
  • Pacemakers
  • Reveal device insertion
  • R+L Heart Catheterisation
  • DC Cardioversion
  • Pericardial drains
