Job summary

An exciting opportunity for a substantive consultant post in the Gastroenterology & Endoscopy department at Ealing Hospital. This post is newly created and sits within the St Mark's division of London North West University Healthcare.

St Mark's is an internationally renowned centre of excellence for gastroenterology, endoscopy and colorectal surgery, as well as a tertiary referral and national training centre. The department delivers gastroenterology and endoscopy services across the Trust's four hospitals - St Mark's, Central Middlesex, Northwick Park and Ealing - and provides an extensive range of advanced diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures for both local and nationally referred patients.

Main duties of the job

Duties will include:

  1. This full-time post with 10 Programmed activities would suit a Physician who seeks a challenge in providing a general Gastroenterology service.
  2. The post holder will undertake 2 out-patient clinics per week, be part of the consultant of the week in gastroenterology (2.31PA/ week) and have one 12-point endoscopy session. A mentor will be allocated to provide support and guidance. The post holder will also be allocated 0.5 PA/ week for GIM on-call (1 in 14).
  3. The post holder will oversee and ensure the provision of high-quality clinical services within the gastroenterology unit and develop IBD services at Ealing Hospital as well as participating in Gastroenterology clinics.
