Job summary

Are you considering a career as a nurse practitioner? Have you Emergency care nursing experience? This could be the role for you.

We are looking for band 7 ED Nurses to work in a busy UCC alongside the GPs and practitioners. The successful candidates will work together in a small team to add to the safety and consistency to our UTC. The nurses will gain experience working as a streamer and alongside the the ENPs gaining insight into the role.

Main duties of the job

  • Day to day management of the department/UTC
  • To provide expert clinical knowledge as a senior nurse
  • To work with matron/Lead Nurse in setting standards and to work towards achieving all the key performances indicators and Government targets

  • To work closely with the ENP/ECP/ACP/ANP/GP and HCAs to maintain a safe environment in the UTC.
  • Ensure patient flow is monitored and managed if any delays.
  • Ensure all daily/weekly safety checks are recorded accurately.
  • Management of stock & storage.
  • Medicine management according to LNWUH POLICY.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

To act as a team leader and role model for nursing team, ensuring a high standard of specialist nursing care.

To carry overall responsibility for the organization and management of the Emergency Department/ Urgent care centre on a shift by shift basis 24 hours per day in conjunction with the other sisters/charge nurses.

To be responsible for effective resource management and performance of staff within the clinical area.

Facilitates personal and professional development of all specialist nursing staff within their team including mandatory training.

As a member of the nursing team participates in establishing a good working environment in which all patients receive a high standard of specialist nursing care within the emergency department.

To lead in the implementation of audit, quality and risk management initiatives and in the maintenance of care standards.

To manage a designated team of nurses and to participate in the education and development of all grades of staff.
