Job summary
An exciting opportunity has become available within the Fleet Department in the Northamptonshire Division to be involved in managing and development of the Northampton Vehicle Maintenance workshop.
The Role entails supervising all workshop staff on a day-to-day basis in line with trust policies, ensuring that work is allocated according to priorities and that staff are fully employed on productive tasks during full period of paid working hours. Whilst also maintaining and developing good practices in health and safety at work.
To ensure that vehicles and equipment operated by the Trust, or its external customers are maintained and repaired in a timely and appropriate manner inline with agreed performance indicators.
Communicate and disseminate information with regards to fleet availability with stakeholders to assist with planning of vital operational needs of Trust.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be required
- Allocates jobs to the Technicians and drivers according to the trust and departments priorities.
- Supervise the work in hand ensuring that work is progressed and completed to a high standard and all documentation of work carried out is updated on the trusts vehicle maintenance system.
- Liaise with stakeholders to ensure safe fit for purpose vehicles and equipment are available for Operational Staff and in the correct location to help meet the Trusts wider objectives.
- Arrange MOT testing to Trust vehicles in accordance with agreed policy and maintains the MOT diary if workshop is also an MOT testing site.
- Supervise the attendance and conduct of staff within the workshops in accordance with Trust policies and professional advice. Carrying out informal counselling of staff should problems be identified and referring major or recurring concerns to the Head of Operational Support as appropriate.
