Job summary
Post Title:Student Ambulance Technician (De Montfort University Pathway)
Band: Agenda for Change75% of the top of Band 4(training rate) until sign off and then Band 4 until successful completion of all components of the Newly Qualified Technician (NQT) consolidation of practice portfolio and progression to experienced/independent Clinician status in line with the Trust's Newly Qualified Technician (NQT) Policy.

East Midlands Ambulance NHS Trust (EMAS) are pleased to advertise theStudent Ambulance Technician Pathway in collaboration with De Montfort University to encourage motivated and committed people to join our service.
Main duties of the job
This Student Ambulance Technician (De Montfort University Pathway) programme is unique in its design. During the programme you will complete:
- A bespoke Ambulance Technician course delivered by De Montfort University, Leicester
- Ambulance Technician core theory modules delivered at De Montfort University
- EMAS specific induction
- A minimum of 32 weeks operational experiential development following completion of the core theory modules
- 150 hours supernumerary practice across two main placement blocks
- Emergency Driving competencies
The duration of the pathway isa minimum of 59 weeksbefore being eligible for qualified Technician status (subject to all assessments being passed). The post is therefore subject to a probation period for the duration of development (59 weeks).
Upon qualifying as a Technician, you will undertake a 12-month period of consolidation in line with the Trust's Newly Qualified Technician (NQT) Policy.
About us
NQTs who have completed all components of the NQT consolidation of practice portfolio and deemed capable in Technician practice will progress to experienced/independent clinician status. At this point, the Technician may work with any grade of staff and will be expected to work independently and act as a clinical lead in the absence of a Paramedic/Registrant and will receive remuneration in line with Agenda for Change Band 5 pay scales.
