Job summary

The current Mobile Data Terminal (MDT) hardware and software used across EMAS vehicle fleet is due for replacement under the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) Ambulance Radio Programme (ARP).

The National Mobilisation Application (NMA) is a bespoke mobile data application which provides the capability to deliver mission-critical dispatch messages, navigation and mapping to front-line ambulance staff, and receive status messages and location details in return, 24 hours a day, 365/6 days a year. In its simplest form it can be described as the means to send and receive mission critical data between the frontline and trust Control Room Operators.

The purpose of this job role is to provide first and second line NMA support including configuration, analysis, maintenance and organising repair for the Trust's NMA devices, working alongside the Emergency Services Mobile Communications Project (ESMCP) Team to provide an excellent customer focussed service.

Job responsibilities

Undertakes specific tasks as directed by the EMAS Ambulance Radio Manager.

Prepared to undertake flexible working hours to provide the highest quality of service.

Provide 1st and 2nd line IM&T support ranging from telephone remote support to field-based visits to minimise the disruption caused by device, application, or user error.

Administer Incidents and Service Requests in the Service Management Tool.

Carry out configuration of new NMA device deployment using NMA Portal, ICCS and CAD.

Creation and testing of NMA image configuration files for new NMA device groups (clusters).

Assist with installation and configuration of NMA devices (NMA, NMA Lite, NMA Tablets) assisting users with any first use problems.

Maintain records relating to the installation or movement of NMA equipment, including the Trusts Configuration Management database and appropriate NMA Portals.

Action Service Requests for software updated and permissions ensuring minimum impact to users.

Assist the EOC Systems and Fleet Team with swap out and basic configuration of equipment, including testing.

Document processes and procedures to assist with NMA configuration, software installation and patch records.

Maintenance of NMA devices to minimise the disruption caused by deterioration and failure.

Diagnose hardware/software incidents and problems escalating to external agencies where appropriate.

Utilise the Trusts Remote Management software to assist with remedial work.

Responsible for own workload, managing own time and tasks to best efficiency.

Assist in the periodic audit of NMA assets and associated records.

Assist with control of equipment stock levels, liaising with other NMA Project Staff on order requirements and asset disposal.

Assist NMA Telent Engineers as appropriate, including installation and other site visits as required.

Carry out maintenance schedule of all the Trusts NMA devices.

Ensures that system integrity about Patient Confidentiality and data security in line with the Data Protection Act 1998, Freedom of Information Act 2000 and the Caldicott Report is not breached.

Undertake any other duties which may be reasonably required.
