Job summary
An excellent opportunity exists for a experienced qualified Motor Vehicle Technician based at Gorse Hill workshop. The role involves maintaining a range of vehicles operated by the Trust including Ambulances, Fast Response Cars and Support Vehicles.
Main duties of the job
The job will entail the servicing and mechanical repairs of our double crewed ambulances and Fast Response vehicles. It is an exciting opportunity to broaden your mechanical experience to work on the specialised equipment on emergency service vehicles.
You should have an appropriate qualification in Motor Vehicle Engineering with two years post training experience of working on vehicles of all types but in particular LCVs up to 7.5 tonnes.
An MOT testers certificate and auto electrical skills would be an advantage. The applicant will need a C1 Driving Licence.
The hours of work are 07:00 - 17:00 on a shift rota including some weekends and Bank Holidays.

It is an exciting opportunity to join the EMAS Fleet team in supporting the front line services to be able to respond to patient needs in an emergency situation. At Gorse Hill we are a close supportive team who believes in providing the best possible service. We have a fleet team at Gorse Hill which consists of Motor Vehicle Technicians a vehicle parts specialist, 3 experienced Team Leaders who are here to lead and support. We also have a Make Ready Team which works alongside the workshop and a vehicle deep clean team. We have 2 experienced fleet drivers and a domestic cleaner. The team are supportive of each other and have an excellent work ethic.

The successful applicant will be expected to service vehicles in accordance with the trust service schedules. Carry out mechanical repairs to the trust vehicles to a high standard. You may be asked to go to other ambulance stations to carry out vehicle repairs. You will also be trained to service pieces of equipment used on the back of ambulances i.e. Stretchers, Carry chairs, wheel chairs etc.
You will be required to go on training courses and keep up with mechanical updates. You will also be required to carry out Essential Education as per the trusts requirements.
