Main duties of the job

East Midlands Ambulance NHS Trust are pleased to be opening applications for Technicians graduating from De Montfort University or Nottingham Trent University. Newly Qualified Technician

EMAS will support you to transition from University to your Technician role. You will be classed as 'Newly Qualified'. As a Newly Qualified Technician:

  • EMAS will provide you with a bespoke clinical induction and vehicle/equipment familiarisation course
  • Your will have access to the EMAS Totara learning system to complete statutory mandatory development
  • You will be provided with a preceptorship period and the support of a qualified Technician or Paramedic
  • You will have access to an electronic portfolio of development, enabling you to record your development and achievements within the first 12 months of clinical practice
  • EMAS will also support you in the acquisition of C1 driving licence category if not already held through a salary sacrifice scheme and will then provide you with an emergency driving course.
  • Please note you must undertake your C1 category test - we look for this to be in place at the point of commencing employment, adjustments can be discussed if required.

About us

The Ambulance Technician role is extremely important within the Trust and Technicians respond to a wide range of emergency and urgent care calls from patients in the East Midlands. We are seeking applications from graduating Ambulance Technicians who are committed to providing outstanding patient care. You must also commit to our organisational values of respect, integrity, contribution, teamwork and competence. Technicians work on the frontline of ambulance services, often acting as a clinical lead and providing contemporary emergency and urgent care to a broad range of patients, whilst driving our ambulances under emergency conditions. Ambulance Technicians work alongside Ambulance Support Crew (ASC) Members, other Technicians and Paramedics.

About You:

You will have completed and achieved a Certificate of Higher Education in Ambulance Technician Practice (NTU) or a Diploma AAP (DMU). As part of your course you must have completed clinical placement in an NHS ambulance setting. To apply for the role, you will need to hold a UK driving licence (manual).

Please note, upon commencing employment (or prior) to employment you must undertake your C1 category test. EMAS can offer a 'repayment planscheme' to support the funding of C1 development, subject to terms and conditions. EMAS will also fund and support you to undertake the Certificate in Emergency Response Ambulance Driving (CERAD).
