Job summary

We are seeking an organised and proactive People & Organisational Development (P&OD) Assistant to provide high-quality administrative support to the P&OD Directorate.

Working closely with the Head of Employee Relations and the Wider Employee Relations Team. You will support key P&OD processes, including Subject Access Requests, P&OD Data Management, policy support, and Employee Relations procedures. You will also serve as the first point of contact for P&OD-related queries, helping ensure efficient service and a positive staff experience.

Essential Criteria

  • GCSE (or equivalent) in English
  • Proven administrative experience in a busy office environment
  • Strong communication skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and handle sensitive information discreetly

Desirable:

  • Experience in HR / People & OD
  • Experience using HR systems (e.g. ESR)
  • CIPD qualification or willingness to work towards one

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support, including minute-taking, transcription, correspondence and record keeping
  • Maintain and update P&OD trackers, systems and reports (including sickness absence data)
  • Support formal processes such as disciplinary, grievance and appeal hearings
  • Organise meetings and prepare documentation in line with Trust policies and timelines
  • Support P&OD projects, audits, training logistics and policy updates
  • Handle sensitive information and confidentially, and in line with data protection requirements

South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM) provide the widest range of NHS mental health services in the UK as well as substance misuse services for people who are addicted to drugs and alcohol.

We work closely with the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience (IoPPN), King's College London and are part of King's Health Partners Academic Health Sciences Centre.
