Job summary

We have an exciting 10 month secondment opportunity for a HCPC registered clinical psychologist (band 8A) to provide a highly specialist clinical psychology service to children, young people and families under the care of the Enhanced Treatment Service.

The post holder will provide highly specialist Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectic Behavioural Therapy (DBT) expertise to children and young people supported by the team. The post holder will also offer advice and consultation on clients' psychological care to other members of the team in relation to clinical psychology highly specialist knowledge and skills including CBT, DBT, neuropsychology, knowledge of neurodevelopmental presentations.

Main duties of the job

You will be part of a multidisciplinary team, and responsible for the psychological assessment, formulation and treatment interventions for children and young people with complex mental health needs in a Tier 4 CAMHS service. This will include individual and group sessions, for young people and parents, as well as contributing to risk management, care plans and managing caseloads. You will also be responsible for the supervision of junior psychologists (including youth intensive psychological practitioners and trainee psychologists). You will also contribute to the effective working of the team and to a psychologically informed framework for the service.

There is a strong emphasis on supporting the parents and carers and close liaison with the community teams working with each young person. There is also a school on site, which offers opportunities for close collaboration.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or equivalent; that has been accepted by the HCPC for purposes of professional registration
  • Completed training course in clinical supervision.

Desirable

  • Additional Training specific to CBT and/DBT practice for children, adolescents and families

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of children and young people with a range of psychological needs of a complex nature
  • Experience of supervising assistant and trainee psychologists having completed the relevant training

Desirable

  • Evidence of advanced practice and clinical experience using CBT and/DBT with children and young people in CAMHS Crisis Services
