CAMHS CYP-PT: Trainee Systemic Family Practitioner (SFP-CDD)

Job summary

An NHSE funded training post as part of the CYP Psychological Trainings (formerly CYP-IAPT) which involves time working as a Practitioner in Lewisham Mental Health Support Team in Lewisham and some time studying with King's College London undertaking a programme of training in SFP-CDD)

Application Process

This is a dual application process. In addition to applying for this position with us, you must also complete a KCL application for the Course Team to review. The Course Team will liaise with us on whether you meet the academic requirements for the course during the recruitment process. You will only be offered a KCL training place if you are successful in securing this post and you meet the university training requirements (such as academic background, relevant experience, visa approval).

University applications close on Tuesday 25th November 2025 at 23.59 pm. However, it is strongly advised to submit an early application to prevent the delay of a decision. Applications take approximately 4-6 weeks to assess. Teaching will begin on Monday 26th January 2026 at KCL, Denmark Hill Campus.

Main duties of the job

This intensive training post will equip the post-holder to provide interventions for children, young people or families using the core principles of the CYP Psychological Training Programme and consistent with the evidence base of Systemic Family Practice. The post-holder will work in the service, for at least 2.5 days of the week using the newly developed skills whilst attending the training programme or undertaking self-study days for the remaining days, as required by the education provider.

  • Qualifications that demonstrate a capacity to complete academic work at postgraduate diploma level or A registerable professional qualification (e.g. clinical or educational psychology, social work, counselling, mental health nursing, occupational therapy etc) or Applications with at least 3 years' experience in a CAMHS or equivalent setting and can demonstrate equivalence through the RPL (recognition of prior learning) process
  • Minimum second-class Bachelor's Degree from a UK University or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard in a relevant subject (e.g. psychology, social work etc).
