Job summary
We are offering a permanent contract for a full-time Band 6 Clinical Associate Psychologist (CAPs), to join the Lewisham Integrated Therapies Team (LIT) and to be based within a Primary Care Mental Health Team (PCMHT).
The CAP will work alongside P&P colleagues in the PCMHT in managing interventions and resources using a variety of interventions and ways of contact including phone, in person and online work. There will be the opportunity to provide group work as well as individual work.
The post is in a friendly team comprising various P&P roles including CBT therapists, CAPs, clinical/counselling psychologists/family and psychotherapists, and this team is within a wider service that works closely with a multidisciplinary Primary Care Mental Health Team that includes MDT staff and liaison with local communities, Community and Voluntary and Social Enterprises. The post will involve exposure to a range of therapeutic thinking in a wider P&P service that includes the modalities of CAT, Psychodynamic, Family & Couple Therapy, CBT, EMDR, Schema Therapy, Transference focused Therapy.
Supervision to the post holder will be provided by P&P staff.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work mainly within a Primary Care Mental Health Team, to provide psychologically-informed interventions including in person, online where indicated, and phone contact.
The post holder will work with people who use our services to develop a shared understanding of the complex issues they are facing, how they cope and the impact this has on their mental, physical health and well-being and those around them. Under supervision they will explore social, psychological, therapies and other potential options which may improve health outcomes and help them achieve agreed goals. The post involves group work as well as individual work. Working to incorporate local community resources with clients is part of the role. They will attend and contribute to data collection and audits as required.
Service users seen by the post holder will include those who have experienced high levels of distress and complex mental health difficulties. Service users may present with a high level of risk to both themselves and sometimes to other people. Assessments and brief interventions will be offered in person in the first instance.

- oAn approved qualification in psychology conferring eligibility for graduate basis for registration with the British Psychological Society, (Class 2.2 or higher)
- oCompleted BPS [British Psychological Society] accredited CAP apprenticeship training programme including EPA to IFA standards
Experience

- oUnderstand how to analyse and appraise key theoretical concepts of psychological models of treatment both at individual and group level recognised in evidence-based national guidelines
- oCommunicate effectively, share information and check understanding using clear language and appropriate, written materials, making reasonable adjustments where appropriate in order to optimise people's understanding
