Job summary
The Locum doctor will work in the community team for adults with intellectual disability and mental illness and/or significant challenging behaviour within the London borough of Southwark. They will be part of a multidisciplinary team made up of Psychiatrists, Nurses, Psychologists and Behaviour Support workers.
They will assess patients for follow-up or initial assessments at various sites including Maudsley Hospital, day centres and the patient's home/care home. They are also expected to liaise with inpatient mental health units and with acute medical departments when patients accessing the team are admitted to inpatient units.
The doctor will participate in the MDT meetings including professionals meetings, weekly clinical team meetings, risk management meetings and other meetings as may be clinically relevant. A caseload is assigned to the doctor under close supervision from the consultant psychiatrist.
Main duties of the job
Your main liaisons would be with other clinicians in the community MHLD, ward based MDT, other Mental Health personnel both within and outside the directorate, other health, education, social services and voluntary agency personnel, referrers to the service, relevant research staff.
