Job summary

We are looking for a Senior Assistant Psychologist to support the Croydon CAMHS service, with a particular focus on supporting Autism diagnostic assessments and taking a role in coordinating post diagnostic groups. The role will include gathering of questionnaire and clinically relevant information from parents/carers and supporting structured observations either in the clinic or in schools as part of diagnostic assessments. The post holder will be involved directly in assessments and also support preparation of clinical assessment reports. The post holder will also support the development of more junior assistant psychologists and honorary psychologists through training and mentoring.

Main duties of the job

We are looking to build capacity to conduct diagnostic assessments efficiently and seeking to recruit someone who already has experience and training in a standardised diagnostic assessment tool e.g. ADOS, ADI. The post holder will join a team of clinicans and Assistant Psychologists and will support coordination and cofacilitation of post diagnostic groups and other groups. They will also support with clinical governance programmes within the service.

The post holder will be asked to assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, development of audit and/or research projects, teaching and project work.

Specialist supervision will be provided and you will join a very friendly and supportive service with all the majority of CAMHS teams co located at Christopher Wren house. This provides opportunities for observation and direct involvement in range of CAMHS work

About us

The Croydon Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) is based at Christopher Wren House. Croydon CAMHS provides a multidisciplinary diagnostic assessment, treatment, advisory and consultative service for children and adolescents with persistent problems, suggestive of moderate to severe psychiatric disorder and for children with suspected or confirmed neurodevelopmental disorders including ADHD and ASD. It provides a friendly and supportive environment with training places for psychiatrists, nurses, and psychologists. The service is committed to evidence-based practice and holds regular clinical governance meetings. Team members use a variety of assessment and intervention models such as CBT, systemic therapy, IPT and medication.

Croydon CAMHS is on the High Street, Croydon , close to the vibrant high-street that offers fantastic shopping opportunities and a wide range of restaurants. It is within walking distance to East Croydon overland station with quick links to central London, Gatwick, Brighton and Hove and has excellent bus and tram transport links.
