Job summary

South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting to a Health Care Support Worker Talent Pool.

We are looking for passionate people looking to start or continue their career in health.

We are looking for people who have an interest in working in all our in-patient wards, specialist services, and community units across all of our Hospital sites which include:

Maudsley Hospital

Lewisham Hospital

Lambeth Hospital

Bethlem Royal Hospital

Assessment Day Essential Information:

If you are shortlisted, you will be invited to an exciting in-person Assessment Day on the Tuesday 20th of May 2025 at the Bethlem Community Centre whereby you will be assessed and interviewed.

You will also have the opportunity to meet our amazing teams and find out how valuable your role as a Healthcare Support Worker will be whilst working in South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. We ask that you keep this date free when apply for this role.

Those who have experience and have done the Care Certificate training with the NHS* will be eligible to apply for the band 3 role of Senior Healthcare Support Worker

Note: Please be aware you can be in the talent pool for a maximum of 6 months. However, we will allocate as quickly as possible.

Working under the direct supervision and guidance of a Registered Nurse/ Senior Health Care Support Worker/ Assistant Practitioner/Nurse Associate to support the delivery of quality nursing care, contributing to the physical, psychological, social, recreational and spiritual care in a recovery focused way through therapeutic engagement and activities, and taking steps to address any issues that arise.

This role will require the post holder to provide hands on care in the prevention, management, and de-escalation of violence in in-patient settings, using approved techniques. The potholder(s) will be required to be physically fit to undertake be assessed as competent in Seni Lewis training to obtain the required skills in the prevention, management and de-escalation of violence.
