Job summary

an exciting opportunity has come up to be a Team Leader at the new centralised control room at Bethlem Royal Hospital.

The successful applicant will help the facilities Manager to lead the Security Team

Main duties of the job

The Security Team Leader will be lead the team that provides 24/7 365 days a year cover of the Centralised Control Room, monitoring CCTV, BMS, Fire, intruder and panic alarms, emergency phones also call the emergency team to any emergencies on site and will serve as the first point of contact for DSN and emergency services The role is crucial in creating a welcoming, supportive, and organised environment. The operative will also be expected to maintain confidentiality and promote a calm, positive atmosphere. Additionally, the role includes acting as a fire marshal to coordinate safety during evacuations. This position requires staying current with mandatory training to maintain job competency and effectively manage challenging interactions and emergencies.

The Team Leader is not supernumerary and will be expected to work as part of the team with additional management and leadership responsibilities.

Job description

Job responsibilities

1. Collaborate with Facilities Manager and Security Operatives and local Facilities Teams to enforce good practices and ensure compliance with trust policies and the trusts five commitments.

2. To manage both the Day and Night Control Room Operatives, allocating tasks as required, ensuring that Appraisals completed Annually and Supervisions are completed every 4-6 weeks and are documented on the Trusts Training System and all of the teams mandatory training is up to date.

3. To complete weekly equipment audits, to ensure that equipment is in working order and report all equipment failures and raise any issues of concern to ensure continuity of the system.

4. Remain current with mandatory training and continually assess training needs to maintain job competency and address skill gaps.

5. Use the Trust's reporting platforms to report any policy breaches and manage security issues promptly.

6. Provide excellent customer service at the Control Room, and effectively managing challenging interactions and emergencies.

7. To assist in providing an effective and efficient CCTV service under the direction of the Facilities Manager. This will include the following work objectives: to operate and monitor all systems within the control room in an effective and efficient manner. To ensure all work is undertaken in compliance with the operating procedures, current legislation (GDPR) and current code of practice, to liaise with the police, other agencies and members of staff by various communication systems to ensure the system is used effectively to support the objectives of the service

8. To respond to all alarm activations, CCTV incidents and calls taken on the emergency phone.

9. To produce all evidential records and witness statements to a high standard acceptable to the rules of evidence and current legislation and to record all events and actions in a clear and accurate format through the use of the current software-based solution used by the CCTV control room.

10. To provide an efficient and courteous radio/ascom and telephone answering service when dealing with a vast array of issues.

11. To control access to all visitors to the control room in order to maintain high security and confidentially of the CCTV operation

12. Report any breaches of policies in line with Datix reporting policy.

13. Send out communications and notices on behalf of the team leader or facilities manager, ensuring efficient and effective work practices and adherence to quality standards.

14. Act as Fire Marshall for own service area, carrying out monthly audits, acting as point of contact with Emergency Services/DSN during any evacuations of work area.

15. Follow and enforce emergency and security procedures to maintain a safe and orderly environment.

  • FM Apprenticeship level 3
  • S.I.A / C.C.T.V certificated.
  • Functional skills Level 2 Maths and English
  • Working knowledge of Health and Safety legislation. (A/I)

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to people at all levels.
  • The ability to manage conflict and identify where escalation to senior staff is necessary.
