Job summary

Virginia Woolf is looking for a positive and proactive, Clinical Charge Nurse to join the ward. Virginia Woolf is a 16 bedded female acute ward .

Working as part of the clinical team the post holder will make appropriate use of the latest evidence-based practice to deliver person centred care across all inpatient wards. The post holder with be part of the Quality Improvement ethos to work with the team to continually improve the service to enable the best possible patient outcomes.

Main duties of the job

Liaising and working positively with members of the multi- disciplinary team and partner.

Safety; safe custody of medicines, sharps, clinical equipment, report all incidents following trust

Leading and supporting/teaching junior staff on risk assessment and risk management that involves making decisions based on knowledge of the research evidence.

Undertaking 1-1 engagement with service users in an honest, open and non- judgmental

Lead in nursing practice that develops care plans to reflect service user needs and relevant patient care documentation working in partnership with service users, wider MDT and family/carers.

Ensuring the physical health monitoring of service users clinical and follow the escalation procedure when signs of deterioration are observed.

Carrying out clinical audit of every patients to ensure nursing duties are comprehensively completed and up-to-date.

Take a lead role on DCCM & Right Care Agenda to ensure quality care delivery in line with the NICE guidelines and the Nursing and Midwifery code of conducts.

To be a role model for good conduct and professional practice, and deputize for the ward manager when on annual leave or not available on duty

Mastery of the healthroster management with fairness for rota and shift allocation that promotes safe staffing and skill mix

To be the charge nurse on duty and ensure smooth operation of the nursing duties within the ward's allocated budget
