Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join the National and Specialist CAMHS OCD, BDD and Related Disorders Service. They are seeking to recruit two Fixed-term (24 months; secondments welcomed) Full time Band 8a Psychologists. This service is nationally and internationally renowned in the field of paediatric OCD, BDD and related disorders and is at the forefront of research and clinical practice developments.
The service provides specialist assessment and treatment for children with OCD, BDD, and related disorders. The post-holders will work closely with other senior and experienced Clinical Psychologists on the team, a part-time Consultant Psychiatrist, as well as trainees from a variety of disciplines. The post-holders will work in all aspects of the service, clinical, research and service development.
Main duties of the job
- The post-holders will carry their own caseload and work with children, young people and their families with OCD, BDD and related disorders such as Tourette Syndrome and Trichotillomania.
- As well as being part of multi-disciplinary assessments, the post-holders would be delivering manualised CBT for the different disorders and would have the opportunity to train up in this treatment, according to service need.
- The post-holders would be expected to supervise and manage other psychologists in the team, including Assistant Psychologists and trainee and qualified Clinical Psychologists.
- The post-holders will have the opportunity to contribute to ongoing service developments and research within the clinic, and to take a lead in some of these projects.

The posts are based at the Michael Rutter Centre for Children and Young People, on the Maudsley Hospital site. Our Trust headquarters is located at Denmark Hill less than 5 minutes from the train station (zone 2) and is within walking distance from the beautiful green spaces of Ruskin park and the vibrant high-street that offers great shopping opportunities and with a wide range of restaurants. Currently the team are doing a mix of working on site and from home. We provide services nationally as well as to our local SLaM boroughs of Croydon, Lambeth, Lewisham, and Southwark, and the post-holder would be expected to offer home-based treatment where clinically indicated.

In this role you will be able to work Monday to Friday within the time frame of 8:30AM to 6:30PM, (you will not be expected to work in excess of 7.5 hours a day) giving you the very best of good work life balance. - To provide a highly specialist psychology service to children and young people with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Body Dysmorphic Disorder and related disorders including specialist assessment, treatment, planning, implementation and monitoring of outcomes.

- To provide clinical supervision and consultation as appropriate, functioning as a lead specialist in child and adolescent OCD, BDD and related disorders.

Essential requirements:
- Entry-level qualification in Applied Psychology (professional Doctorate, or combination of MSc plus PG Diploma level additional training) that has been accepted by the HCPC for purposes of professional registration.
- Registered with the HCPC as Practitioner Psychologist, and evidence of continuing professional development as required by the HCPC.
- Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients with a range of psychological needs of a complex nature in child and adolescent mental health services, specifically using a CBT framework.
- Experience of supervising assistant and trainee psychologists having completed the relevant training.
- Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological assessments and interventions for children and young people with OCD, BDD and related disorders
- Theoretical knowledge of psychopathology and the evidence base for the relevant treatment of OCD, BDD and related disorders.
- To select and administer specialist neuropsychological assessments, interpreting and integrating complex data that require analysis, interpretation and comparison, drawn from several sources.
