Job summary

The Lambeth Living Well Network (LWN) Alliance has been established to lead, co-ordinate and, in large part, deliver support and services for adults experiencing mental health issues in Lambeth. We believe in providing the right level of care and support at the right time so that people can flourish, contribute and live a healthy life of their choosing.

The Alliance Director role is strategic in nature with a focus on continuous improvement and transformation of service design across the Adult Mental Health system in Lambeth. The Alliance Director will have a key responsibility for the delivery of an ambitious transformation programme within tight financial constraints, while ensuring that system continues to deliver and improve.

They will take a lead role in driving quality and transformation, ensuring effective sharing of resources (annual Alliance budget of circa £80M) and knowledge across the Alliance and ensuring borough wide change programmes are developed and fully embedded in all operations.

The Alliance Director will be an exceptional leader actively encouraging and supporting the Alliance to develop its people to meet the needs of the Alliance and the people of Lambeth. The Director will be a role model for Alliance Values and Principles, this role will work closely with the Alliance Leadership Team and Alliance Management Team and will develop the Alliance strategic plans to meet the ever-changing environment that we provide care and support within.

Main duties of the job

  1. Provide leadership and direction for the Alliance Management Team (AMT) defining the standard of excellence to achieve in ensuring the relevant strategic priorities and transformation plans are successfully delivered.
  2. Communicate the Alliance's strategic plans internally and externally enabling all stakeholders to understand them and how they can be part of shaping and delivering the outcomes and goals.
  3. Chair, lead and manage the AMT who are charged with implementing relevant strategies across the Alliance, ensuring these are translated into timely, actionable and quantitative plans, and that these plans are actioned.
  4. Drive quality across the Alliance's activities effectively using data to target improvement and identify and share great practice across all service areas.
  5. Lead the development of transformation and service redesign plans, facilitating the AMT to implement these to achieve successful outcomes and demonstrate the impact of these on the wider system.
  6. Role model a leadership style and approach to decision-making that focuses on continuous improvement and creates a learning culture across the Lambeth Alliance, promoting inclusion and co-production across the Alliance in line with the Alliance's values and aims.
  7. Develop culturally sensitive and competent services acceptable to an ethnically diverse inner-city population and to ensure fair access to services irrespective of gender, sexuality, religion, culture, race or disability.
