Job summary

The South London & Maudsley (SLaM) Clinical Informatics Service is being set up to provide informatics capability to support clinical decision making in direct care. The service will use innovative data enrichment and modelling techniques developed by researchers and clinicians in the Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre (BRC), and make these data entities available to frontline staff. The Clinical Informatics Service has recently been awarded funding over 2 years to develop a working proof-of concept ingestion pipeline and visualisation tool into a fully operational service within SLaM.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic and self-motivated Visualisation Developer to work within the Clinical Informatics team, initially for a 2 year period. The post-holder will have experience of information systems, ideally in a healthcare environment, and familiarity with principles of dashboard and information design and communication.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will be a key member of the Clinical Informatics Service team. You will use your skills in designing, optimising and maintaining dashboards to deliver compelling visualizations, which support frontline clinical staff, by curating complex clinical data.

The post-holder will:

  • Work with clinical stakeholder leads and UX designers to translate user requirements into interactive visualisations, which deliver critical clinical intelligence.
  • Work with data modellers, DBAs and technical team members to understand data flow within the Trust, and to support data modelling, load and refresh requirements and user role requirements.
  • Work with stakeholder groups and end users to support user acceptance testing, and to develop dashboards iteratively in an agile design process.
  • Work within the broader BRC team to understand our approach to data entity modelling and text mining, and with our natural language processing (NLP) team to support delivery of text-heavy records into meaningful and accessible data and visualisations.
  • Work with a range of technical platforms including Microsoft Azure, SQL and elasticsearch and Kibana, supported by the wider technical team to develop new skills, and to test out new technologies and solutions.
