Information:

This job is now closed

Job summary

In October 2020, the South London Mental Health and Community Partnership (SLP) implemented an Adult Eating Disorders Provider Collaborative (AED PC) as part of the first wave of NHS England's provider collaborative programme for specialist services. The AED PC encompasses a range of inpatient, outpatient and day unit services across south London which are provided by SWLStG and SLaM on behalf of the 12 south London boroughs. The AED PC benefits from experienced senior clinical leadership and an established governance structure within SLP. Since its launch, robust commissioning arrangements for south London AED services were established, focusing on quality and patient experience. An innovative Enhanced Treatment Team, a new community provision aiming to provide an alternative to inpatient admission - has also recently launched.

This is an exciting opportunity for an AED Programme Director to join our AED programme. This pivotal senior leadership role will enable the AED PC to transform pathways at scale across south London, will embed robust programme management, and set future strategic intent. As part of the central SLP commissioning support team you will work closely with clinical and operational colleagues from constituent SLP trusts and the AED Clinical Director to transform AED pathways, thus improving outcomes across south London. This role carries high level accountability for compliance with clinical and operational standards across all AED providers

Main duties of the job

The AED Programme Director will deliver three key objectives:

  1. Setting and ensuring strategic direction for the AED PC, including developing and implementing a transformational plan to deliver pathway improvements and to ensure sustainable AED services for the future. This will require the management of service development.
  2. Establishing and maintaining a robust programme management approach for the AED PC.
  3. Maintaining and building on existing collaborative relationships both between the AED PC SLP partners and with external partners.

The post would suit someone who has extensive experience of working as a Service or Programme Director and particularly in Adult Eating Disorders services with the enthusiasm and passion to bring together clinicians and service leads to develop and maintain high quality and accessible services. You will be an excellent communicator and able to build effective internal and external networks to ensure that the service is efficient and consistent with the SLP aims. This role will suit an individual who has the drive and enthusiasm to support change and developing new frameworks for partnership working in a complex, dynamic environment.

About us

The South London Mental Health and Community Partnership (SLP) is a collaboration between Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust, (Oxleas) South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, (SLaM), and South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust (SWLSTG) between them delivering mental health services to a population of more than three million people. The partnership brings together clinical expertise, experience, and innovation, aiming to improve quality, use resources most effectively, and deliver best practice consistently to all patients. Since its inception, the SLP has been a resilient and effective partnership that has improved patient experience, introduced innovation, and developed new services across the 12 boroughs of south London.

Adult Eating Disorders Programme

SLP trusts and partners have developed a business case outlining the case for delegation of the specialist inpatient budget and community budgets to an AED Provider Collaborative to improve the AED mental health pathway for south London patients. The business case outlines the challenges faced by services across south London and that, by bringing together the knowledge and experience of clinicians and experts, we can collectively solve the challenges our local population face.
