Job summary

Support worker, The Southwark SUN Project Band 4

The Southwark SUN (Service User Network) service is an exciting new initiative aimed at improving services for people with complex emotional needs.

As the support worker working alongside the Team lead, you will be involved in developing the service, helping to run SUN groups with a fellow trained clinical staff member and supporting group members to attend and participate. Your skills will contribute to building and providing a service to meet the needs of this patient group within Southwark. You will work closely with the team lead and will collaborate in all aspects of SUN Project as a community service. You will be supported with training and supervision to develop in this role.

The SUN Project provides community-based, open access peer crisis support groups and aims to help people develop effective ways of coping, reduce emergencies, and improve access to appropriate services.

SUN Project will run differently because the service users who become group members will themselves help run the groups and can choose when and how often they participate. It views SUN members as experts by experience who can support one another on their mental health recovery journey.
