Job summary
This post is for a Mental Health Act (Associate Hospital Manager) Team Leader to provide the overall management of the AHM Hearing Team across SLaM. The candidate will be responsible for the operational management of all aspects of the AHM Hearing team and to attend wards and community teams to promote high levels of good practice in all aspects of MH Law.
The candidate will ensure that the Trust operates in compliance with the MHA and Code of Practice and achieves the highest levels of good practice for service users in relation to the MHA.
The post holder will act as a point of contact and provide support to the AHMs for the management and supervision of the AHMs including any recruitment and training needs.
Main duties of the job
- Take a lead role in overseeing arrangements for Associate Hospital Managers hearings across the Trust,
- Provide leadership, support and line management to the centralised Associate Hospital Managers administration team.
- Monitor deficiencies in target times for appeal and renewal hearings and address any delays with the clinical teams.
- To support the MDTs by In-Reaching into directorates to increase compliance with the MHA by reviewing data to identify areas where good practice measures are required.
- With the MHA Team Leader, to keep under review the administrative working practices procedures of the MHA Coordination team and where necessary, discuss, plan and implement improved working practices.
- Attend Operational Directorate Mental Health Law Committee meetings ensuring that actions arising from these are followed up and reported back to the MH Law Management Team
- Prepare the quarterly AHM activity reports as required to be presented at Operational Directorate Mental Health Law Committee meetings
- Prepare and develop processes for management of delayed hearings and taking a lead to identify and overcome barriers to the hearing process to ensure a speedy conclusion of the hearing
- Act as contact for all incidents involving the AHM hearings within the Trust and investigate the same in conjunction with Operational Directorate management teams.
