Job summary
This is an exciting new post to work across South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust in order to improve the response to Domestic Abuse and Exploitation. The post holder will work as a member of the Trust's Centralised Safeguarding Team with the Associate Director for Safeguarding to ensure the organisation meets its organisational, statutory and regulatory requirements and responsibilities to safeguard adults and children.
The post will have a direct impact on the way the Trust delivers services to service users and carers, working to embed a robust culture of safeguarding. The post holder will report to either the Trust's Safeguarding Adults and Prevent Lead or Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children, promoting exemplar safeguarding practice and incorporating a 'Think Family' approach.
The post holder will lead on ensuring timely preparation and participation into Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC), Domestic Violence Intervention Programme (DVIP), and Prevent and Change (PAC) arrangements in collaboration with the Borough Safeguarding Leads and Trust wide CAMHS Safeguarding Lead. Lead the co-ordination of a whole Trust Domestic Abuse and Exploitation Model within Mental Health Services to improve the safety and well-being of children and adult patients, their families/relations and staff members experiencing Domestic Abuse and or Exploitation.
Main duties of the job
- To collaborate with the Safeguarding Teams and Domestic Abuse Lead in managing Domestic Abuse, sexual safety, sexual exploitation, serious violence and other forms of exploitation across the Trusts.
- To champion the Trust wide agenda for domestic abuse and exploitation as a form of abuse which occurs where an individual or group takes advantage of an imbalance of power to coerce, manipulate or deceive a child, young person or an adult. This includes all types of exploitation and harmful practices such as, Modern Slavery (including human trafficking), Sexual Exploitation, Criminal Exploitation, Radicalisation / Prevent, Mate Crime, Cuckooing, Serious Violence and Financial Exploitation.
- To contribute to the Trust safeguarding agenda through modelling excellent domestic abuse and exploitation practice, ensuring that Trust staff are appropriately trained & supported to effectively cascade practice and knowledge to teams throughout all Trust services.
- To develop and facilitate a comprehensive Domestic Abuse and Exploitation training and supervision programme including the co-ordination of Domestic abuse Champions.
- To provide expert level of knowledge, leadership and professional advice and supervision in relation to domestic abuse and exploitation to safeguard vulnerable children and adults at risk, using lessons learnt from national and local case reviews, best practice evidence and research.

Safeguarding Training and Supervision
- To contribute to the design, development, co-ordination, delivery and evaluation of a safeguarding training strategy and programme, in conjunction with other Trust named professionals, the Trusts Learning and Development Department, Local Safeguarding Adult Board sub-committees, health commissioners and NHS England.
- Responsible for developing, planning and delivering safeguarding, domestic abuse and exploitation training to Trust staff and multi agency professionals.

- The post holder will use expert knowledge and experience in recognising and responding to allegations of abuse and demonstrate that all advice is underpinned by relevant theory and evidence-based practice.
- Support the Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children and Named Professional for Safeguarding Adults on the implementation and evaluation of the Trusts Integrated Safeguarding Strategy and Safeguarding quality improvement programmes.
- Lead on the development of evidence-based standards, policies and guidelines
- Contribute to the on-going development of Safeguarding service, staying abreast of contemporary safeguarding practice developments and themes.
