NHSP conversion GMAXX - AL1 Ward
treatment for people over 65 years with acute and/or ongoing mental Illness.
Patients and their families will engage with you on a daily basis and are looking to be treated with respect and dignity. We want our nurses to be fully integrated in the mental health and wellbeing of everyone they work with and feel comfortable communicating with different stakeholders
Main duties of the job
We want to hire staff that are passionate about the care delivered to older adults and who will act as advocates for the reduction of stigma in our community.
You must have an excellent understanding of safeguarding and how to work within professional boundaries. Roles at SLaM are challenging, stimulating and diverse. We believe that we can offer you something different from other Trusts.
About us
AL1 ward has 18 beds and a staffing establishment of 30 including medical, psychology and therapy services. The ward work closely with other services, especially with the Home Treatment Team, in providing a rapid but comprehensive assessment and treatment package with as short a hospital stay as possible for those admitted.

You must be a qualified RMN, Learning Disability Nurse or Acute Nurse in the final year of your RMN/LD/RGN course. Its important that you have an understanding of multidisciplinary services and the challenges that older adults face from their mental health problems.
Communication skills must be of the highest standard, you will be expected to engage with very vulnerable adults and their families. You must show that you are caring and compassionate as well as a desire to uphold the dignity of the Patient you support.
