We are delighted to invite applications for a Locum Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist post within the CAMHS Clinical Academic Group of South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, the most comprehensive mental health service for children and young people in the country.
We are seeking a full time Locum Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist (10 PAs) to join the established Centre for Interventional Paediatric Psychopharmacology and Rare Diseases (CIPPRD), a national and specialist outpatient Tier 4 Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service, that is headed by Professor Paramala Santosh. CIPPRD was the Winner of 2015 RCPsych Award for Psychiatric Team of the Year: Children & Adolescents.
The CIPPRD provides whole-person medicine and integrated mental and physical health care for children and young people with complex, severe, and treatment-resistant co-occurring neuropsychiatric disorders, and medical conditions including rare diseases. The team have recently set up the world's first Rett Centre that provides neuropsychiatric services for Rett Syndrome patients across the life span.
Main duties of the job
The Locum Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist will have specialist expertise in Developmental Neuropsychiatry and Psychopharmacological interventions. This is a replacement post as the previous post holder is no longer in this role. The CIPPRD team has expanded due to demand and the increased focus on rare diseases.
The role will include providing consultant input and expert advice on specialist assessment and medicals of children with severe and complex neurodevelopmental and / or neuropsychiatric difficulties and children with rare diseases / conditions, with a view to clarifying diagnostic status and then initiating evidence-based and personalised treatment while ensuring frequent monitoring and support and advice to optimise the management of symptoms. Supervision of medical staff in the team is required.
