Job summary

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced CAMHS Clinical Specialist, who has an interest in working with children and adolescents that present with mild to moderate mental health concerns, some complex social circumstances and significant behavioural difficulties.

The post-holder will work within the Lambeth Children and Young People's Wellbeing Service (CWP) Service (0.6) and Lambeth CAMHS Spring team (Tier 2) service (0.4), providing both direct clinical work with children and young people, and supervision for qualified and Trainee Children and Young People's Wellbeing Practitioners. The Spring Team works closely with the Lambeth local authority at Tier 2 level, offering assessment and brief interventions to children, young people and their families. The CWP part of the role also involves 6.5 hours based within the Well Centre, a GP-led centre working with young people in the areas of physical and mental health.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will be a part of the management team within the CWP team. They will liaise closely with the Team Lead in the CWP team, as well as with the Service Lead for the wider Spring team.

The post-holder will manage their own caseload and provide specialist assessment, formulation care planning and treatment to young people and families with complex presentations. A key part of the role will be providing individual and group supervision to qualified and trainee Children and Young People's Wellbeing Practitioners, who deliver CBT-informed interventions to parents and young people. The post-holder will attend a part-time, year long CWP supervisors course from January 2024.

Lambeth CAMHS employs staff from a variety of disciplines, including child psychology, psychiatry, nursing, psychotherapy & family therapy. The service is organised into three sections & delivered from a number of community & hospital sites across the borough. Teams include a generic multidisciplinary Tier 3 services, for Children and Adolescents, as well as a number of specialist teams & services including Youth Offending Team, Children Looked After, Parent and Infant Relationship Service (PAIRS) and the Neurodevelopmental Team. There is also an Early Intervention Service.

Essential

  • Healthcare Professional (HCP) professional registration NMC, HPC/HCPC, ACP or UKCP.
  • Formal training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Desirable

  • Formal training in clinical supervision, Pg Cert IAPT Supervision (CWP) or equivalent experience.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience and ability to function as a specialist practitioner in CAMHS.
  • Experience of working as a case manager in CAMHS using evidence-based practice.
