Come and join a passionate team, dedicated to providing outstanding care for children, young people, their families and carers.
Jim Birley Unit is a ward for women, aged 18-65, who have severe mental illness. We provide care for women who live in the London Borough of Southwark. The ward currently has a newly established friendly and welcoming team.
We offer psychiatric assessment, care and treatment in hospital, which reduces the risk to self and others.
We appreciate the role of a Ward Manager can be challenging and so we have included an Administration Manager in the establishment to take on a considerable amount of the administration tasks and release your time to focus on clinical care. This is in addition to support from a Matron, Clinical Service Lead and Nurse Consultant.
About the location:
Jim Birley Unit is located in Maudsley Hospital, Denmark Hill, Camberwell, London, SE5 8AZ.
Our Trust headquarters is located at Denmark Hill less than 5 minutes from the train station (zone 2). Main duties of the job
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and dynamic nurse to lead one of our female acute inpatient services. We are looking for an assertive, approachable and creative individual to manage the day to day running of the ward including role modelling high standards of care, service development, promoting good practice, maintaining patient and staff safety and leading on quality improvement projects.
This is an important but challenging, band 7 role. In collaboration with the Consultant Psychiatrist, the successful candidate is expected to lead the team in providing high quality, compassionate nursing care and will be able to demonstrate this through compliance with performance outcomes. The post holder will also ensure that supervision and appraisal systems are robustly implemented, and that staff are supported to ensure that the care provided is of the highest possible standard in line with the Trust's Mission.
