About us
The Psychology Service is a small friendly team committed to ensuring an ethical, evidence-based therapy service, collaborative working with colleagues and creative sharing of professional development. Whilst recognising the severity and chronicity of many presentations we work with, we are committed to a culture that values the use of goal-oriented, time-limited and focused interventions where we work with the client using trauma-informed, goal-oriented interventions. We are keen to support and develop trauma-informed care and schema-informed practice within our service and in the wider mental health teams we work with.
The Psychology Department has links with University College London and the Institute of Psychiatry providing placements for their trainee psychologists and CAPs and MHWP, as well as with a number of universities who we have counselling psychology trainees from.
We sit within a larger Step 3 Psychology & Psychotherapy (P&P) Service that includes Clinical/Counselling psychologists, CBT practitioners, Psychotherapists, Psychologists in training, Clinical Associates in Psychology and a Mental Health and Well Being Practitioner. There are a range of therapeutic modalities in this service eg CAT, Family Therapy and Psychodynamic and we have a number of shared meetings and close relationships with our colleagues, affording opportunity for P&P to think together on creative and active ways to harness our energy and address the issues required.
