Job summary
Lambeth CAMHS Rapids team is a Community CAMHS Crisis team that supports young people who are experiencing a mental health crisis. The aim of the service is to reduce presentations to emergency departments and Tier 4 admissions. Where a young person is admitted to a Tier 4 inpatient unit, we aim to work with the unit to reduce length of stay.
Where possible, we try to keep young people out of hospital and ensure their care and treatment is delivered in the community. We are an inclusive and diverse team, and this is evidenced through our work with the diversity of the children, young people and families that we work with.
Lambeth CAMHS Rapids Team is a multidisciplinary team based at 35 Black Prince Road, Kennington, London SE11 6JJ, covering the London Borough of Lambeth. We see young people up to the age of 18 presenting in crisis due to underlying mental health difficulties. Operational hours: Mon - Fri 9am - 5pm. During term time, a weekly late clinic is operational on a Monday evening from 5pm to 7pm.
Main duties of the job
Lambeth Rapids is a small, supportive crisis provision. The team encompasses a range of disciplines including Psychotherapists (Psychodynamic, Art and Systemic) , Psychiatrists and Nurses.
The successful candidate will be expected to work, often intensively with Children and young people who are often in significant distress and present with complex and high risk. We are a responsive service and often work therapeutically with the CYP that we support, along with managing and containing risk.
The potholder will also be expected to often work with large complex networks of professionals, that are often also supporting our patients.
Home and community visits are an essential part of the role.
The successful potholder will also be required to care coordinate cases with the support from colleagues. We also provide consultation and support to other parts of the wider CAMHS network.

You will be a member of a number of internal and external professional networks to ensure that care plans for individual children and services across agencies are co-ordinated efficiently and effectively.

- Relevant professional training will include: First-level Nursing qualification/registration RMN or RSCN, or HV with related CAMHS experience or any as below: First-level qualification in Occupational Therapy, Clinical or Counselling Psychology, Social work, or equivalent with related CAMHS experience. Qualification as a Systemic Psychotherapist (Family Therapist) with relevant CAMHS experience.
