We are looking for an experienced Service Manager to lead our Community Nursing Service, ensuring high-quality, safe, and person-centred care across the community.

You will provide strong operational leadership, manage workforce and resources, and drive service performance and improvement. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams and partners, you will play a key role in shaping and developing community nursing services.

You will have:

  • Proven leadership and management experience

Main duties of the job

The Senior Manager, Community Nursing Services, provides strategic and operational leadership for the delivery of high-quality, safe, and person-centred community nursing care. The role is responsible for overseeing service planning, performance, workforce capability, and continuous improvement across community nursing teams, ensuring services are responsive to population needs and aligned with organisational goals, clinical governance standards, and regulatory requirements.

This position leads multidisciplinary teams to deliver effective care in community settings, promotes best practice and innovation, and ensures optimal use of resources to achieve sustainable, efficient service delivery. The Senior Manager plays a key role in stakeholder engagement, service development, and change management, supporting improved health outcomes and positive patient, family, and staff experiences. As the Service Manager you will have responsibility for leading and managing the Community Nursing Service provision in Milton Keynes.

  • The post holder will have responsibility for leading and managing the Community Nursing Service provision in Milton Keynes.
  • To line manage staff, (within this specific area of responsibility as identified above), from varying backgrounds, both clinical and non-clinical, ensuring that individual staff performance, appraisal and development is robustly undertaken to optimise both individual and organisational performance and that all staff have access to continuing professional education and development to maximise performance.
  • To ensure staffing levels and skill mix fully and effectively meet the needs of the services, within financial constraints
  • To ensure that services are continually monitored, viewed and adapted to meet changing need and identified commissioning requirements
  • To support teams to perform effectively in-service delivery and ensure effective positive communication, promoting both multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working.
  • To work alongside key colleagues to develop appropriate and constructive relationships both within and external to the organisation within service improvements.
  • To work with the Head of Quality Governance and implement systems and processes to manage risk and ensure full compliance with internal and external governance procedures within the specific services.
  • Develop robust communication systems, building strong links between Community Nursing, Social Care, Home Care and Home First
  • Act as a point of contact and support for GP practices and PCNs
  • Lead change management in the implementation of service development strategies.

  • oEducated to master's degree level (or working towards) or equivalent experience
