Job summary

We are seeking a Director of Corporate Affairs who shares our values and ambitions. This role offers the chance for an outstanding person to join our inclusive and supportive Executive team, developing and contributing to the formulation of strategy, policy and the delivery of corporate and statutory objectives.

Main duties of the job

You will act as principal advisor to the Chair and Chief Executive on all matters relating to corporate governance, ensuring that our corporate affairs and governance agendas are delivered to the highest standards of probity. You will ensure that the Trust has sound Governance policies and procedures in place and will advise the board of directors and the board of governors on developments in Governance issues.

You will fulfil the role of Company Secretary and act as support to the Chief Executive in the development and implementation of robust risk, performance management and assurance frameworks.

You will advise and support the Chair, Chief Executive and Executive Directors on complex legal matters. In particular, the good management of coroner's inquests, the management of claims and other legal proceedings. You will act as an advisor on complex medico legal cases. Support the Chief Nurse and Chief Medical Officer in ensuring that systems for clinical governance, management and learning from serious incidents and advice to Divisions and frontline clinicians, is readily available.

You will work collaboratively with the corporate governance leads in both Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust (CLCH) and West London NHS Trust (WL) to ensure that the work of the collaborative has full corporate governance input. This includes supporting the Chair in Common, the Board in Common and its Delivery Groups.
