Band 6 Wheelchair Occupational Therapist/ Physiotherapist

An exciting opportunity exists for a Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist to joinCamden & Islington Wheelchair Service.

We are looking for someone who is compassionate andkind, has a keen interest in wheelchairs and really understands how important wheelchairs are to those who use them. The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of postural management, excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to team working. Previous experience in wheelchair prescription is desirable.

We work with children and adults with a range of disabilities, assessing for and prescribing a diverse range of equipment. This includes manual wheelchairs, powered wheelchairs, buggies and customised seating. The Service is lucky to have advanced technology available in the way of a Pressure Map and a Smart Wheel which assist in completing accurate, objective assessments. We work out of our clinic, and also hold satellite clinics in schools, nursing homes and clients' homes. The role is challenging but fun and very rewarding. There are opportunities for developing leadership skills through supervising staff and great opportunities for CPD and service development activities.

The service is based in a modern building in Kentish Town, walking distance to many shops and transport links.

Main duties of the job

To take a lead role in the assessment and treatment of clients of all ages referred to the Camden & Islington wheelchair service requiring manual and powered wheelchairs, posture, special seating, cushions and accessories prescription.

Work Experience
