We are looking for applications from innovative, qualified Clinical or Counselling Psychologists to join our supportive team of psychologists and therapists providing client-centred, flexible, inclusive and respectful assessment and interventions to adults and their families living in South Kensington and Chelsea.

The Psychology team works with adults in the community with severe and enduring mental health problems including psychosis, bipolar affective disorder, complex emotional needs, recurrent depression and complex PTSD. Many people we see also have neurodiversity.

In CNWL, psychological professions have a strong sense of leadership and a distinct professional identity. We are interested in developing stronger joint community working and co-produced interventions and welcome applicants who share this vision.

The post is covering 12 months of maternity leave, with the post due to end on the 22nd December 2026. The exact length of the contract will therefore depend on when the successful candidate is able to start.

Main duties of the job

Preference will be given to applicants with specialist skills in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) but we are also interested in candidates with interests in other specialist psychotherapies such as CBTp, Compassion Focused Therapy, DBT, EMDR, CAT or Schema Therapy approaches. Similarly, we are interested in candidates who have experience in delivering psychosocial interventions in group and other formats.

We prioritize collaboration within our team and beyond, so we are hoping to find candidates who have the required communication and interpersonal skills that will allow them to thrive, and to provide a meaningful service to the diverse populations we serve.

Our team sits within a diverse and supportive local multidisciplinary hub team with close connections with our wider therapies colleagues such as Arts Psychotherapy. We also have close links with several regional Clinical Psychology Training courses.

Key Responsibilities:

KR 1 Clinical and Client Care

To provide highly specialist psychological assessments, formulations and interventions for clients in the Community Mental Health Hub presenting with psychosis, bipolar affective disorder, complex emotional needs, recurrent depression, complex PTSD and neurodiversity.

To provide culturally appropriate psychological interventions with carers or families of referred clients when required.

To assess and monitor risk and draw up appropriate risk management plans.

To complete DIALOG+ care plans.

KR 2 Contributing to team or service clinical functioning

To contribute to the effective working of the team or service and to a psychologically informed framework for the service.

To contribute to the team or services delivery of accessible and acceptable services to diverse local communities.

To be proactive in challenging discrimination and support the development of culturally competent services.

To advise other members of the service on specialist psychological care of clients.

To liaise with referrers, GPs and other professionals concerned with clients in order to develop and review care plans.

KR 3 Policy and service development

To be responsible for the allocation and/or clinical supervision of the work of more junior psychologists with support from a more senior psychologist.

  • Post-graduate doctoral level training in Clinical or Counselling Psychology or its equivalent (for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS
  • Additional training in a specialised area of psychological practice through formal postqualification training (PG Diploma or equivalent), OR a combination of specialist short courses, or an evidenced portfolio of supervised practice-based learning in a specialist area of clinical practice, assessed by an experienced clinical supervisor to be of equal level to a Postgraduate Diploma.
  • Registered with the HCPC as Practitioner Psychologist, and evidence of continuing professional development as required by the HCPC
