Job summary

We are welcoming a Band 5 (B5) Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our Adult Community Mental Health Hubs (CMHH) with the aim of becoming a Band 6 (B6) OT following successfully passing a 12-month development plan. We want you to bring your unique blend of experiences, backgrounds, perspectives and knowledge to our OT team as diversity makes us stronger.

We are keen to support staff in their development and have created opportunities through our B5 development scheme. We want to hear from those who feel ready to progress from B5 - B6, or newly qualified OT's with potential to develop to a permanent B6 within 12 months of employment, pending upon successful completion of the developmental plan.

Our Preceptorship programmes offer you the opportunity to consolidate your knowledge and core skills as an OT while extending your confidence scope of practice in a safe and supportive work environment. You will be offered regular shadowing, networking and supervision from OTs and within the team as part of your development journey. You will have regular meetings and supervision with a senior member of the OT team, who will support you with the progression of your development plan.

Main duties of the job

You will have an OT-specific caseload, consisting of assessment, groupwork and individual interventions as well as contributing towards our Community Psychosocial Therapies offer with our Psychology colleagues. We work within the Recovery Framework, encouraging independence, social integration and the achievement of personalised goals.

You will have the opportunity to use your skills and creativity to contribute to the development and implementation of treatment programs, pathways and initiatives in order for us to deliver high quality, evidence-based interventions that improve service users' functional abilities, independence and overall quality of life.

Applicants must have a qualification in Occupational Therapy and be HCPC registered in order to be considered for the post.

  • Diploma/degree in Occupational Health
  • Current registration with HCPC
  • Work or placement experience in a mental health setting

Desirable

  • Training/ experience in psychosocial interventions and other relevant training (substance misuse, working with children and adolescents, etc)
  • Professional Body Membership and/or involvement in RCoT specialist interest group - mental health

Knowledge/ Experience

Essential

  • Wide range of practice educational placements
  • Experience of MDT working
  • Experience of groupwork & understanding of the procedural and group processes involved

Desirable

  • Demonstrable understanding & experience of OT profession-specific assessment tools/ treatment modalities (MoHO)
